Windsor, Missouri, is located just 10 miles from Windsor Crossing which is on the Tebo Creek Arm of Truman Lake. Windsor Crossing has over 40 campsites, water, restrooms, boat launching ramp, swimming, and motels and restaurants nearby. Also, Windsor is only 35 miles north of Truman Lake Dam, 18 miles south of Knob Noster State Park, 27 miles from Harry S. Truman State Park, and 39 miles from the Lake of the Ozarks. Hunting, fishing, and hiking trails are within a short distance and are great for family outings, overnight camp outs or just an afternoon picnic.
Truman Reservoir is one of the largest lakes in the mid-west, it offers many opportunities for fun an relaxation. Just 37 miles from Windsor with over 55,600 acres of water filled activity. Nationally known for its Largemouth Bass, Catfish, and Crappie, it also is well known for its marinas and many campgrounds. Maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it still is a very rustic area for exploring. Windsor is proud to be the "Northern Gateway to Truman Lake."
Many of the creeks and streams around Windsor are full of large mouth and small mouth Bass, and area lakes include Catfish, White Bass, and Crappie. Depending on preference, rabbit, squirrel, deer, and turkey are among the favorites for local hunters. As an added delicacy, in the Spring, Morel and Red Mushrooms are in abundance and a welcome treat to anyone's dining experience.
The Katy Trail/Katy Trail State Park is also the local favorite for walking, bicycling, and horseback riding as it meanders through the countryside and has stops in several of the surrounding communities including Clinton, Calhoun, Green Ridge, and Sedalia.
Sedalia, 26 miles northeast of Windsor, is also home of the Missouri State Fairgrounds where every August headlining country, rock, and pop artists grace the fair's stages while the mile-long midway draws the young and old alike to its rides, games, and food.
Windsor is a wonderful place to visit, relax, shop, recreate or perhaps you'll find yourself like so many others who have decided that Windsor was just too charming to leave ... feel free to make Windsor your home, we'll welcome you "neighbor!"
